Almost missed son’s wedding

One of Redpoint’s Cavalry Travel Insurance clients and her sister were traveling through Scotland when the client began experiencing nausea, vomiting and severe acid reflux. Her condition prevented her from eating and even lying down to sleep. She was admitted to a hospital in Glasgow.

To make matters worse, her son’s wedding was just a couple of weeks away, and with this serious illness and hospitalization abroad she was in danger of missing it.

Cavalry empowers its clients to determine where they want to receive medical treatment. In this instance, the client elected to be evacuated from the Scottish clinic to her home hospital of choice in the western United States. Unlike typical travel insurance programs, Cavalry does not require local foreign doctor approval, nor does it require the significant qualification of “medically necessary” for evacuations.

Redpoint dispatched a paramedic to her bedside in Glasgow to help manage her care, assist with her treatment and – once she was discharged – medically escorted her home.

Due to her Cavalry program, the client received the major medical treatment she needed at her home hospital of choice, and enabled her to attend her son’s wedding.

Cavalry combines the best medevac insurance with travel insurance benefits such as trip cancellation, trip interruption, lost baggage, primary medical expense coverages, and more. Cavalry is powered by Redpoint Resolutions, a medical and travel risk security company owned and operated by special operations veterans and physicians.

Redpoint covers almost 10 million people worldwide and has evacuated clients from all seven continents.
