Mountain hot springs in Japan

An American woman and her husband, both Cavalry Travel Insurance clients, were on a custom-designed bicycle tour of Japan when she received the news that her father had died.

The two had just started their six-day tour — the kind of luxury itinerary that typically includes quaint fishing villages, mountain hot springs and ancient temples — when they had to forfeit their trip, book new flights back to New York and leave for the airport immediately.

As comprehensive travel insurance policyholders, they submitted a claim to Cavalry for the lost tour days and rescheduled airline tickets: $19,814 in total.

Cavalry reimbursed the clients for the full amount.
